Hi all, this question is more just to see if others have chickens that do this. When not free ranging, my chickens are in their run with access to their elevated coop as well. I notice that they have been hanging out on the roosts in the coop more than the run (which also has roost bars). This surprises me since it's much darker in there with less room to roam, jump, scratch, etc. Its 1030 now and they are still roosting. Could this change also have anything to do with them being near egg laying age? I have 6 pullets, 16.5 weeks old. I also ask because up till now, they have never shown interest in being in the coop other than sleeping at night. Just curious. Thanks

Are they trying to get out of the sun on hot days?
I was wondering that but air flow is certainly better in the run. Today the temp is around 80. It's just interesting how they are all hanging out in there together like a little club house lol. They have never hung out there after waking up.
