I have three leghorns and one rhode island red, they all started to lay eggs about 2 weeks ago, problem is the three leghorns laid one egg each and haven't laid any eggs since, my rhode island red lays an egg everyday but the others well nothing.
Does anyone know why they would start to lay eggs and then just stop?? I have given them the egg protein, I have given them oyster shells, I just don't know what to do anymore.

thanks for the help

Are those Brown or White leghorns? I will be able to think a little better if I know that. :D

sorry, three white leghorns

Those are hybrids, they are bred to lay a large amount of eggs. Do you feed them any compost or treats? Hybrids shouldn't be fed any, because everything in their body goes into the eggs. They need 17 or 18% layer feed.

I am not exactly sure what could be wrong, but that's my best guess.

I myself have had several birds do this. Give me an egg or two and then quit for a month or so and then lay everyday after for a couple to a few months before taking a break again... also check the flooring of where they roost for possible softshells...they will likely eat them but you may find stick albumen evidence...
