Chickens using metal rack formroosting

I left an old horse hay container that is metal in my remodeled chicken coop. My two brahmas are roosting on it. Is this bad for their feett? I worry a lot.

It won't be bad for their feet till winter when a metal roost can cause frostbite.

Metal will still leach heat and be uncomfortable; wood is the best for roosts, either tree limbs or fence rails or boards. Mary

It is also slick. Something with texture is easier to grip.

I bet if you just lay a length of 2X4 on the rack, they'll just step up onto that.
