Hi, I've got 8 americauna hens in a pen with 1 rooster, was getting 6 eggs a day until about 2 weeks ago. Now I'm lucky if I get 2 a day. I was just wondering why they might have quit all of a sudden. I don't see any feathers on the ground so moulting shouldn't be the problem right? I feed them a mixture of the knockout feed, 5-way and cracked corn .

Are you giving them a source of grit or are there any predators around I'd set up a trail camera just in case it would help to post a picture of your coop location
As far as predators goes, haven't seen any and our dog thinks he is the chickens personal body guard, if they make a noise he goes and checks, haven't seen a possum or raccoon since he has been around lol. And I don't think we are giving them any grit, I'm not entirely sure what that is, if you don't mind giving me some examples of grit?

Grit is pretty much just hard coarse rocks that help the chicken get the proper nutrients from there food and break it up, unless you live in gravel with small stones you have to go to your local feed store and purchase some here is an example of it.https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/p...YGocKhJaiJBK6ZBRbHZH0dcFAQpsJlO4aAiT7EALw_wcB

Okay thank you so much! I'll have to go get some that is probably the reason they have been doing some digging in the pen, looking for some.

Anybody broody? And how old are your ladies? :)
