Hi, new here and ran into respiratory issues with my small backyard flock. No vet in town treats chickens but recommended penicillin shots as they had that readily available, nothing else even at Tractor supply. They’ve responded well and in their last 2 days of shots.

My question is, should I treat once a month with water antibiotic like tetracycline or duragard after they are done with this treatment? Vet ordered the water soluble Chloe-tetracycline for me but can’t mix meds right now and he wasn’t sure.

My hen a few months ago has respiration issues and I bought this stuff and it worked I got it from amazon but it is a lil expensive but it works.

I’m not an expert but maybe treating once a month could help prevent it from happening agian

Thanks, I forgot that I also used the VetRX as supportive therapy until they responded to the antibiotics. They weren’t drinking or eating at first as they were so bad. Thinking they got dCRD from new hen I tried to add to flock, had her separate but apparently not enough.
