I just brought home 3 new girls about 5 months old. I’ve had them about 2 weeks now. When I first got them they were eating their feed great. Combo layer and starter. It got very cold so I was feeding them lots of energy food like scratch and boss. Now they won’t eat their feed. It’s like they check it out and walk away. They hang where they can see the back door and are looking for treats. I’m concerned because 1 girl is laying an egg daily and I want them to have the right food . Please any ideas will help. Thanks.

Is the layer and starter still available free choice all day? They will not starve themselves....they will give in and eat the feed after they realize the treats are not coming.
Yes it’s out all day! I guess I will cut off the treats. I was worried they would not eat. LoL !

I wish my flock of pigs, errrr..... I mean chickens didn't eat as much. They are like garbage disposals, everything you throw at them it goes down the chute.

Scratch and BOSS is like candy and cake..... limit treats to less than 10% of their diet. They’ll eat when they get hungry and the treats aren’t coming. When mine get finicky I sometimes will wet their feed to make a mash and they go back to eating. Make sure you have crushed oyster shells available in a separate dish so layers can supplement calcium as needed
