Chickens wont lay in nest boxes.

My hens rarely lay in their nest boxes. They are 5 gallon buckets screwed down and filled with hay. A couple will lay in it but most of them just lay in the corner. Is this ok or should a get diffrent boxes?

I would get some fake eggs and leave them in the nesting boxes. That might entice them to lay where they belong.

I would try some fake eggs or golf balls. I use golf balls. My girls think they're eggs.
