My moms Australorps wont roost at all. We have raised them up the same as our Chantecler's starting with when they were chicks laying a piece of two by fore on the ground for them to climb on and raised the roosts as they grew, but not once have they roosted on anything. They just huddle up in a corned standing and sitting on each other. The roost is only about 1 1/2 feet off the ground. Out 4 Chanteclers use it and there is tons of room for the Austrlorps as well. They were only on the roost when we first put them in the big bird coop but then they got right off it. We tried the "place them on the roost" trick but it doesn't work. They fall off, and its not a gentle fall as they don't even try to right them selves they just fall, and get up and head into the corner again.

Is there anything that we can do to get them to roost or our my Australorps just stupid?

How old are they, sometimes it can take months for them to get off the floor, they're just used to doing it, it's comforting, nice warm pile with your siblings, I wouldn't worry just one day one will do it then they all will, you can't force it, let them be kids

If they are falling off you have a problem with the design of roost. Unlike parrots and budgies a big breed chook needs a wide roost. The 4" side of a 2x4 is a minimum size for astralorps.
