My 3 chickies are now 1 week old. Suppose to be all pullets. Got them from our local feed store. The hatchery they got them from say there is a 90% accuracy that they are pullets. Anyway......last night I was holding one of them and it kept stretching its neck and opening its mouth like it was wanting to "cock-a-doodle-do". I know they are only a week old, but does this mean anything? I'm really hoping I just have a strange pullet because we live in city limits in an HOA that doesnt allow farm animals. My neighbors are pretty cool but they wont want a roo next door. LOL

We will probably try to sell any roos we wind up with on the internet. Hopefully we don't wind up with any. We are a little worried about the comb on one of our black stars, we are hoping they are just a little older than we supposed, and they are black stars, should be least likely to wind up with roos.

My husband said we should just eat any roos. That's men for you.

I wouldn't worry about it at this age. She was probably just doing chickie yoga!

Wait till you the rest of their 'poses' lol

Tikka, I said the exact same thing! Just wait till you get a mean roo though. Suddenly it doesn't seem like such a bad idea

Hmmm.... watch that little neck- stretcher just in case she has something stuck in her throat or is having respiratory problems! Submit a pic in the "emergencies" section just in case she gets worse. Not to scare you, just a thought! I don't think there would be any crowing-mimicking going on at the tender age of one week.

Thanks for getting back to me! She seems fine, so maybe she was just doing yoga like MuranoFarms said. I haven't seen her do it since. Hopefully it is just some weird chicken thing and we dont get a surprise roo!
