Chicks afraid of the Roost?

OK - so I put a medium sized rock and a tree branch in the brooder and they all freaked out and are hiding in a corner and wont come out. I shoo'd them out of the corner and they just picked another corner. They are literally standing on top of each other to get away from it.

What the heck??

This is just the beginning. You will quickly learn that it doesn't change much even when they're grown. Chickens do NOT deal well with change. Your chicks will eventually make it over to the roost and rock - just give them time. They'll be hopping around on their new "toys" soon enough.
