Chicks and mites

I have 5 assorted chicks that are 5 weeks old .I just noticed a very small bug in the brooder. They have not been exposed to any other animals since I got them from the hatchery .Could this be just a bug or could it be possible that it is a mite? I don't see any on the chicks but being a first time chicken mom I am not really great at getting them calm enough to let me look real closely.

Hatchery chicks shouldn't have mites. Mites is plural because they come in hoards. A single bug is probably not a mite. Mites are dark specks that move all over chicks, you would definitely see them.
