Chicks and turkeys together?

Anyone out there raising chickens and turkeys in the same area without blackhead? We'd like to get some turkeys, and in one place I read that they shouldn't be housed together, and in the next place it seems to be fine. We have a friend with both chickens and turkeys in the same yard and they all seem to be fine...how much do I worry about it?

I have not done it personally, but a friend of mine raises both chickens and Royal Palm turkeys and they are fine. I've got a broody hen raising turkey poults for me from her stock. They're going to be bigger than 'mom' very shortly!

Blackhead does not occur in all areas.

If it's in your area then I'd keep them separate. If not then you can probably raise them together.
