Chirping
Hello,
I have 3 baby chicks arriving today. I have a broody hen who has been on her nest for almost 12 days. She is very broody (plucked all her chest feathers, hardly drinks or eats, on nest nearly 24/7, ticking clock sound when out of nest). I should get the chicks around 3pm today. I planned on bringing them out to my broody at 10 or 11pm and monitoring with a webcam overnight.
But....will it do any harm to keep them inside for the first night in my brooder? My kids will love to interact with them today and tomorrow before I give them to my broody. And, it'll be in the 30s tonight...but I don't want them to be too old for my broody to accept them. They will be 1.5 days old if she gets them tonight (vs 2.5 days old tomorrow).
What would you do?
