Chicks died

I have recently incubated 6 eggs ( I am new to this ) and only 2 of therm hatched. I was so excited when they hatched but sadly 3 days later they have both died. Neither of them stood on their legs at all and both just moved about on their belly's the whole time. I tried to get them to drink and eat but neither of them ate or drank anything at all. I feel I have done something wrong and want to know what before I get any more eggs. I took them out of the incubator about 15 minutes after they hatched and put them in a brooder with a light 60watt strength bulb and worried this wasn't warm enough for them now. is there anything else I sould have done or did wrong?

I am new to hatching as well but my understanding is not to remove them right after hatch. They should stay in the incubator until they are dry. Also chicks need to be kept at 95 degrees when they are moved into a brooder. And then loer the temp by 5 degrees each week. I use a lamp and bulb especially for chicks. Also they are still absorbing the yolk after hatch I think up to 24 hours so trying to force then to drink or eat is not advised. If I were you I would google hatching chickens and just read read read. There's so much helpful information out there. Also, invest a little money in a better set up for a brooder such as the lighting ect. I dont have all the answers and I'm only repeating what I have read. So sorry to hear about the lost of the chicks. Best of luck in the future.

Thank you so much for replying and for the good advice. I think they may have grown too big for their shells before they hatched - they were just Batam eggs but the chicks looked so big when they came out I couldn't believe they could ever have fitted in the shell. I think their legs had been so cramped up they just couldn't stand up on them. I will try again but I will take your advice andread up lots more before I start again.
