Hello everyone, I rising 8 chickens, 7 hens 1 rooster, they are around 7 weeks, i built a coop inside a big kind of cage but every night they just came together on the corner outside the coop, how to train this ladies?
3 Buff Orphintons
5 Australorps

Thanks

First of all, chickens can't see in the dim light or dark and I'd say you need a light in your coop to lure them in. I use a "nightlight" in my coop because it has no windows. If they weren't raised in this coop and run they will not venture into unknown territory in the dark! Try a light and see if that helps. Welcome to Backyard Chickens! :frow

Did you ever have them in the coop only, to 'home' them to the coop?
The light can work, but some windows and good ventilation are good things to have.
Pics of coop, inside and out, might help here.

Oh, and...Welcome to BYC! @PolloLocoCoco

Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.

It's easy to do, (laptop version shown), then it's always there!

Pick them up each night and put them in the coop. Also, in the cage are they exposed to the elements? Last year it took my chicks about 3 days to learn to go in by themselves, this year the little buggers were refusing to learn until the night it rained....they have put themselves to sleep perfectly ever since then though.
