I received chicks last week from McMurray. They all seemed happy and healthy - then last weekend, at a week, they started dying.
At first I thought maybe they were too cold (our house is very cold but I had them under lights and last winter I got a lot of chicks and they were fine) but now they are not huddling together so they should be warm enough but they are still dying. They'll be fine then they'll lay down like they're sleeping and the next thing they're dead.
I have no idea what to do. I keep waking them up when I see them asleep...but I can't do that 24 hours a day.
Usually once we make it to the week point they're fine. I don't know what's going on.
They were supposed to have been vaccinated against mareks but I think they're too young for it to be that anyway.
any thoughts?
