OK this is sooo gross
I have a sick chick in the house with a buddy to keep it company, it has had bloody poops the past few days but getting much better now, almost normal poops after antibiotics (yey!).
I changed the paper towels lining their box tonight, sick chick made a fresh poop and the other chick made a beeline for it, nom nom nom - then the sick chick finished off the poop!
What the???!!
They have food (which they eat) and there was a bunch of other poop lying around so they're not eating everything - is this normal??
I quickly dumped an inch of wood shavings in the box so any future droppings would "disappear" since paper towels only highlighted the event.
Are they both at risk now of getting ill because of ingested poop?
And why on earth would chickens do this?
