If you dont' mind saying where you ordered from and how far they had to travel. I have an order coming from MM in a couple weeks and I'm sooo nervous about it after reading all of these horror stories lately of people receiving dead chicks because of the weather. MM is in Iowa and I'm in NJ so that's quite a trip! I don't know I may just postpone the order until this spring? ANYWHO...just glad to see those happy healthy babies!!!!

Im going to answer everything at once

They are from Murray McMurray Hatchery.
They are day olds, so they were hatched during the weekend and then sent out fast by air, and arrived Monday. We got a call from the post office at 7 am, so if you are dealing with a good company they should get to you fine. Mcmurray also has a guarantee that they replace any that die within 48 hrs.
As for the "free rare chick" we ordered with my dad so he took that one home, along with his 40 he ordered.
It was a barred rock...wow.....

Actually its 26 in total, and one of the buffs passed away to chickie heaven, and so back to 25. Everyone seems to be active and healthy so we'll see. Im just so scared to find one not alive, I've been sending hubby to go downstairs first! I guess its better to happen early before we get attached to the little peepers.
