I have 6 chicks that Im raising here in Arkansas. They do great in the house under a brooder lamp, but as soon as I take them outside with no light, when the temps are in the nineties, after a few hours they are too hot. So....of course I bring them back in. What gives? The juvie pen is ventilated quite well.

I'd say leave them out there for increasing amount of time to get used to the hotness. Of course, all chickens will be hot at 85+ and are in danger of overheating at about 90+. Putting a fan on them will help immensely, and so would misting them with a spray bottle, and supplying cold water. *warning* make sure the chicks are not terrified of the fan. I had a friend that had 8 chickens die because of this - they all crowded in the farthest corner and smothered each other. If they are frightened, move the fan so it is not blowing directly on them.
