Chicks growing up

Hey everyone,
Just wondering. My chicks are now 12-13 weeks old and have incorporated nicely with the hens. However, I notice that the hens are eating a lot of unmedicated chick starter grower. Should I just switch to layer feed completely or should I still put out the chick feed and just let the hens eat the crap out of it. It was recomended to me to feed the chicks chick starter/grower until they lay their first egg. What do you do?

I'm going to keep mine separate until the chicks are old enough to start on layer pellets (at about 20 weeks). My chicks are just 4 weeks old.

I like to feed them all flock raiser and offer oyster shell. That way I know everyone is getting what they need and nothing that is going to hurt them.
