Hi all,

long story short my girlfriend has had to bring the chicks home from her school during the lockdown.

4 hatched yesterday. 3 are doing well but I’m worried for the 4th. His left leg is always extended and his left eye is closed. Photos attached.

is there anything I can do to help him? He is only a day old.

It can be any of several things. Sometimes a protracted hatch, causes them to push too long and cause feet and leg issues. Sometimes they can get a leg injury from a slick walking surface in the hatcher or brooder. Sometimes it is genetic and sometimes it is a temperature problem during incubation.
It looks like a dislocated hip joint.
Pages 6,7 and 8 of the following PDF can give other ideas.
