Finally our Coop & Run are 99% finished. I followed the BYC posters advice and confined them to the coop for the first day (Sunday) and then allowed them into their run. The first 2 nights at 8:30pm ish I encouraged them into the coop at night but last night I didn't interfere and they put themselves to bed at about 9:00pm. I was sooo proud of my girls.
My question is how long should I confine them to the run before I allow them to Free Range with supervision?
I like the advice of allowing them a few hours in the late afternoon, then putting them straight to bed?
Any Advice?

Give em at least a week to get it into their heads where they should be come evening time and then, as you already look like you plan to do, let them out a short while before bedtime so they can roam a bit, but then head for the coop. You can make that time a little longer as you go, until you feel comfortable with letting them out for as long as you want.
