My chicks just went to the coop.Is it normal for them to stay in the coop mare than the run ? Should I close the coop door to force them to the run ?

Are they by themselves or with old hens?
If they are by themselves they will eventually go into the run on their own. They are just getting use to their new home. I had the most trouble when they got use to their home not wanting to go back in night. So it took a few weeks getting them use to copping themselves at night.

If you intergrated them with older hens sometimes they get afraid to come out cause they get pecked and chased. I’m not sure what your current situation is.

I wouldn't close the door until it's night time and you're shutting them in for the night. Let them go in there and explore. Mine hang out in there sometimes just for the fun of it, it's their house and sometimes they just want to nap in it instead of outside.

Thank you so much. Nervous new Mother! What you said makes sense.

I was that way until I had raised chicks and learned as I went. It's like having your first child then you have your second, you're not as cautious with the second because you know more than you did before.

Exactly ! TTYS , Im sure Thanks again .

The coop is 90 degree in the hottest part of the day. I have a fan blowing for good circulation. Will they come out if it gets too hot ? .
Maybe.
Good to leave confined to coop to 'home' them....but that's hot...might want to chase them out.
Pics of coop and run?
