Hello new friends!!! I look forward to meeting you and I certainly look forward to your input, ideas, support and sense of community as my family and I navigate this new adventure in backyard chickens!
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? We purchased 5 chicks from a hatchery and received them on June 17th. I am not one to do anything without a vast amount of research so to say we are "excited" about our newest family members would be quite the understatement due to over a year of gathering information!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? We currently have 5 healthy babies. We hope it stays that way (minus the "babies" part
)
(3) What breeds do you have? Barred Plymouth Rock
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?....... ALLLL OF IT!!!!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? We have 3 indoor cats, 1 dog, 15 African cichlids, an African Grey and 3 children not including the chicks. Hobbies revolve around them and all things outdoors/nature.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. Ha! My hobbies
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
With all the digging I did online, BYC popped up frequently and I loved that it gave perspective from people that do this everyday.
