Chicks in with other chicks -

I've never done this with young chicks so I need a little schooling.

My problem - I have three 2 week old Polish chicks that have been together since hatching but I'm getting 4 more from a breeder here in the next day or so. They're obviously young about 1-3 days old and I'm afraid they'll get picked on by the older chicks. What do I do?

It depends. I have mixed ages in the same brooder--but at 2+ weeks you start to get a little bit of bullying. Can you section off the brooder until they are closer in size and energy? Maybe in 2 weeks?


You could put them in there, watch closely, and see what happens. Still, I would be prepared to seperate them if necessary.
