Our heat lamp fell into the brooder catching the wood chips on fire and killed two of our babies. The other two are alive but having trouble after smoke inhalation. I am just devastated. It has been about 12 hours since the fire. I have the chicks in a box in my bedroom and they have been softly and repetitively chirping all night, almost a song like chirp. They are having difficulty breathing as they are elongating their necks, sneezing, etc. Is there anything I can do to help them other than keeping them in a well ventilated warm area? Not sure if they have eaten or drank as I’ve been trying to get some sleep, but I have checked on them every few hours and they are still standing and moving around a bit.

Oh, that is so scary! So glad you caught it before it caught more things on fire. So sorry for your loss of the 2 chicks. Not sure what can be done for the remaining two. Perhaps just time and as you are already doing: lots of ventilation. I wonder what is done for people who go to the hospital for smoke inhalation? Can you call a veterinarian?
