We've got around 100 meat chicks at the moment, they are a few weeks old and are starting to grow feathers. My mum found a chick yesterday whose leg was sticking out at a 70° angle, it's in pain so it's not putting any weight on it & can still bend it so it lies down a lot. I'm pretty sure it's not splay leg because we had a chick with it when it was a few days old and doesn't have the same symptoms. I can't find anything online about this so does anyone else have experience with this? Will attach photos soon.

Hopefully someone has experience with a possible fix. But, it may just be the rapid growth the chick is experiencing.

You can try to micromanage the chick so that it is able to eat/drink/grow until you can process at a decent weight. That might only be another week or two.

You can make a sling with two holes for the legs and a hole for poop. This is often done for certain leg issues. But, you will need to monitor the bird a few times a day. You may only use the sling part of the day or most of the day and then let it get comfortable on the floor for nighttime sleeping.

Good luck.
