after hatching how long
is it necessary to leave chicks
in bator? until all have hatched?
before putting them into brooder.

Leave them in there until they are completely dry and fluffy for best results. They can go without food/water for 48 hours. Do not get over anxious and keep opening the 'bator. Can't wait to see pics of your new babies.

I use to get too anxious and open too early. No more!!!

Ozark hen, Im still waiting and being very patient.
today is day 19 and no pips yet..
have good temps and humidity.
hope they work out.. At least 1-2-3- ??
I have 11 cochins..in the bator took a few
out that were clear when
I candled on day 8..
my broodys usually did all this work..LOL
But have 3 broodys working on their full house..

I sure am lucky for first time hatch in new bator, have 8
feathered leg cochins.0ut of 9
and going
outback to the big coup found the 3 hens still laying
and they
have hatched a few so far 6
so I will have a house full in the brooder.

Well, Sissy, I just put a bunch of prized eggs into my bator this afternoon so the wait and nail biting is on now for me!

I thought it was taboo to open the bator at all?

here is the complete quote:

You are right, do not open until they are completely dry. You can open if you have dry chicks but they can stay in there for 48 hours if need be. I remove each chick as it dries.
