Hey,
We just hatched out some Comet chicks. They are in a plastic stock tank with two heat lamps (One at each side) and the thing is covered every where except above the heat lamps to keep out drafts. The temperature is at 100, and we will be moving it down to 90 this week. (They are almost a week old)They have food and water. Niether of which are medicated. Most of the chicks seem healthy, alert, and are eating well except that they have a little bit of blood by their nostrils. We also have 3 guinea keets in there (Which we are going to soon be removing) which are larger than the chicks. They don't bother them outright, but the chicks do occasionally get stepped on. When I looked up the nose-bleeding I didn't find anything, so I was wondering what you guys think. Is this a stress thing (Possibly alleviated by the removal of the keets?) or could it be a respiratory thing? (Possibly alleviated by medicated water?)
Thanks!
