Chicks, now I'm sick?

OK I'm probably waaaaay overturning this but here we go:

I'm brand spanking new here. Only registered a few days ago. We picked up our chicks last Sunday. We have 33 and they're set up, with heater plates, in our garage. I've been doing all the caretaking. Hubby is going to be the one building runs and tractors for when they move outside in the spring. I don't mind, I love them, they're great!

But here's my thing. I haven't had so much as a sniffle on over TWO YEARS! Any slight tickle in the throat and my husband and I knock it out immediately with natural remedies like supplements. Well yesterday morning I woke up with a sore throat, like I'd been breathing through my mouth all night and then noticed, the longer I was upright, the more my nose was draining and I was super stuffy. Super stuffy again today and it feels like I have a sinus infection brewing.

One week after bringing the girls home. Coincidence? Very possible but I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced getting sick shortly after bring home chicks? Reaction to something? I don't know! I'm just stunned at being sick I guess haha

Probably a coincidence.
Tree pollens are extremely high in my area right now.
Where about do you live?

I'm on WI. We had a warm few days a week or so ago but it's back to freezing temps now. Another reason why I'm shocked. It's been up and down all winter and the only thing it's bothered is my achy joints. Probably just my turn to be sick but I can't breathe and I'm miserable so probably over thinking

We are in WI too and all of us are fighting allergies. But it could also be the chicks, what type of bedding are you using and how often do you clean/mix it? I wear a mask when turning the bedding in the coop and run, so much dust and yuck

Pine clippings. We're doing the deep bed method right now but I plan to clean out the whole thing this week

Have you used pine bedding before, with no issues?
I'm allergic to pine myself, it can be hard to breathe around the stuff, and oh my god the amount of snot my body produces as a reaction to it. Could be worth considering!

It can be hard to tell allergies from illness. It's possibly an allergic or irritant reaction to dust. Do you have any itchiness in your nose or throat?
No, not at all. No eye itchiness (usually a key for me with allergies), no runny nose, just all in my sinuses.

I was wondering that too. I have not worked with pine before and do have environmental allergies but don't have typical symptoms of allergies, no watery itchy eyes, all the snot is in my sinuses and not moving
