So I placed my order I've been waiting two years to place. I ordered from whelp 10 straight run chicks I'm in CT and working on building the coop and run now. I've got 7 weeks to get ready for my peeps. And advice or suggested reading let me know.

It's best to make the coop and run larger than you think you will need. When chicken addiction strikes, you'll be glad you did. Otherwise you will have to keep building more coops, etc. to keep up. Also chicken wire only keeps in chickens, it does nothing to Keep out predators. You really need 1/2" inch hardware cloth

Great thanks for the feed back in was thinking 1" now I'll definitley go with the half. I'm leaving enough room in the coop for three above what I think I want. My town ordinances cap me out at 12 so I'm making it big enough for 12 just in case I get too excited

! Pleased you joined our flock! My only advice is for to start thinking of your down the road plans with whatever roosters you end up with as you ordered straight run. Roosters are fun to have around but soon become noisy and will over breed the hens. Good luck to you and your flock!

Hello and welcome....so glad you joined BYC

Good luck with your coop building project and hope your chicks arrive happy and healthy

I really hope the box that comes will be nice and loud yes we are planning the roo's for the fry pan. Our suburban neighborhood is not ok with Roos even though I would have liked one.
