Chicks Ordered - Now To WAIT

I ordered my 8 chicks from Mypetchicken and they will arrive the week of May 9th - that seems forever away but we are planning and building our coop and brooder so it is probably the right amount of time - so here is the mix I ended up ordering:

2 - Rhode Island Reds
1 - White Leghorn
1 - Speckled Sussex
1 - Barred Plymouth Rock
1 - Silver Laced Wyandotte
1 - White Plymouth Rock
1 - Ancona

Seeing all the baby chick pictures has me really excited!!

They should be here in time for Mother's Day!!

You got a nice mix and they really do a fine job of getting those chicks to you safely....I've ordered several times from them with no complaints - and their chicks are very friendly, not skittish or anything like that...my avatar are my last two remaining hens from them and they are the friendliest girls around - got them last April and they started laying at 5 months and haven't stopped even with our rough winter...

I know what you mean about the wait - I was on pins and needles! and it was the best call I ever received when the post office called to let me know my chicks had arrived...I heard them calling for me from the moment I opened the door - the people on line were thinking they were hearing things when they heard birds chirping, lol!

That's the worst part of it!! You sound like you've got a good plan though and I always work best under a timeframe....

Petunia I was nervous to order the chicks online vs. getting them from the feed store BUT I really wanted an assortment and at the feed store I could only get two kinds. The website directed me to the best egg layers and cold tolerant breeds - really liked that feature! I do need to find out how my post office handles such deliveries and I HOPE I am not working the day they arrive. I have Tues and Wed off that week but am working on Thursday (my husband and son will be home) so I really do hope they arrive when I am home! Watch for updates!! LOL
