I have had 2 chicks hatch successfully and one got stuck in it's shell so I tried to help it out but by time I got it out of the shell it had died! Two more have started to pip but neither have made progress for about 4 hours! Is this normal? Should I help them?
Thank you!

Welcome!! They can take up to twelve hours to get out. Sorry about your chick.

That happened to me too the other day.

Thank you! These are button quails so is it still the same for them?

Welcome to BYC!

Sorry about the chick you lost. They can pip and sit there for 24+ hours. So do not help them out. They are busy absorbing the last of the yolk and detaching from the inside of the egg....they are not stuck. So leave them be.

Good luck with the rest of your hatch and welcome to our flock!

Unfortunately one chick drowned it's water bowl! It couldn't have been any shallower or their would have been no water to give! Any suggestions on how I can provide water to them safely ? They are button quails so are tiny!
Thank you for your help and being do welcoming :)
