We are still in the process of building the chicken coop, so I made this 5x5 playpen for them so they could be next to me while I build their coop.
Since I didn't make it predator proof, I don't leave them unattended.
I enjoy taking breaks from coop building to go watch chick TV.

They really love scratching around in the grass.
I'm hoping they're eating up all the bugs!

What a great idea! I like how lightweight it is, so you can easily move it around and not have your lawn get torn up in any one are.

That is a sweet playpen! I just have a section of wire fencing that I made into a circle......This looks much better! I may just have to try that.

Thanx!

And, yes, it's very lightweight and I drag it around to give them different areas to forage in.

I started off with a list of breeds that I wanted for various reasons (egg-laying, ornamental, broody, calm/friendly, etc) and this is what I have:

(3) Barred rock pullets
(1) Rhode Island Red pullet (I lost one at 5 days)
(6) Australorp pullets
(3) Easter Egger pullets
(3) Silkie straight run
(3) d'Uccle straight run (I think one is a Roo -which I'm happy about)
(4) Polish straight run (I don't know how to sex these)

I just noticed you are from Staunton! I just moved from Staunton to Raphine last July. Good luck finding a farmette! I looked for almost two years before I found my little piece of heaven.
