Hi all! My chicks are 5 weeks old, and have figured out how to join Mama and the rest of the girls on the roost at night. I have seen the last few nights one or even two chicks roosting on the tippy top roost, on top of their Mama's back. Is this a common thing, or my chicks just great at playing "King of the Roost?" I'm wondering at what point they will quit this...once they get bigger than Mom?

That's normal. Quite often with my chicks three would want to roost on mama's back, but they wouldn't fit. Two would be up there, another would try to climb up, knocking one to two off. The displaced chicks would try to climb back on, one or two would fall off. Repeat. Repeat.

When they get a little bigger they'll roost like the bigger chickens.

That sounds adorable. Can someone post a pic of what it looks like. I really want to see some chicks sleeping on mama hen's back
