Chicks

Welcome to BYC

Most hens do not take kindly to being moved after they started sitting, so unless you need to move them, leave them where they are now until the chicks have hatched. If the rest of the flock has access to their broody box, mark their eggs so you can see if anyone adds a fresh one to the batch. Once the chicks have hatched you can move them if you are concerned that the rest of the flock may harm the chicks, it is possible, but so is letting the hens raise the chicks with the flock without hassles. If you do separate them reintroduce them all to the flock before the hens wean the chicks, which should be at around 6-7 weeks. This way they have a chance to meet and be accepted by the flock while still under their moms' protection. Enjoy your broody hen adventures!
