My chimney swift babies are still alive. Last night I found a dead bee in the nest material, which means mama has been in to feed them. This morning when I went downstairs, I heard her in the flue calling to them, and they were squeaking and begging for food. I just checked on them a few minutes ago and they're sound asleep. I called our wildlife center for advice on whether to leave them in and hope for the best or pull them out and bring them in--apparently chimney swift parents can't feed their babies unless they're physically on the wall, in the original nest--and they said that if tomorrow they don't look good, that I should bring them in. The wildlife center person did say that she shouldn't be calling for them in the nest, that she'd only be calling for her babies if she couldn't find them. She also said that it's good if they're quiet, that they'll only make noise if they're hungry. This is their second day out of the nest since I destroyed it, so I'm hoping they'll make it!
