Now I was assuming it was mixed with my buff rooster from a few months ago. That said, I got rid of that rooster a few months ago!? I just hatched a chimunk striped chick yesterday. All I have are SILKIES! 2 black hens, 1 white hen and 1 white roo. The whites are from quality show birds (which is what I am trying to hatch) and the black are kinds shabby and missing a toe... but they are great broodies so I keep them for hatching. Over the last year I got rid of all my buff which were all breeder quality birds.
Now I have this one strange colored chick?! What will it be?
I let them free range... I'm wondering if we could have had a visitor... but my nieghbors who have chickens do not have any roosters (I know, because I helped off all their roos last fall and we BBQ'd them!)
Is there really a chance a EE roo was wondering around... or is this a common coloring for a partridge silkie chick? (They have black skin, not green by the way)
