Chloe's 8 new ducklings (More Pictures added! pg3)

More Pic's!!!! Chloe took her ducklings out for 3 or 4 little walks yesterday. It's still a bit chilly around here with gusty winds of 20-25mph and highs in the 60's.

Proud Momma!

These photos make my heart smile!!! I wish I had some 'Scovies. A friend has some and she's supposed to bring me 3 eggs to hatch, she said I can keep one of the babies so I'm hoping the hatch is a success!
I've got a broody chicken hen that I can put them under or start up the incubator, not sure which I'll do yet.

Keeper/o/t/hearth: Chole and the babies are cuter each time. So adorable !! Can I PLEASE have one of the black ones ??? LOL
Just to update U....my visiting duck (VD) started to "sit" on her eggs yesterday morning. She gets up once in awhile to partake of the smorgasboard I've set out for her. I am sooo very tempted to fence her area in but don't want to spook her. So many miserable predators around here and even though she's not mine I'm nervous for her and the eggs. By the way, VD looks a lot like your Chole. Thanks again for all your earlier info. Will let U know how it goes.

Oh, I do hope VD will be O.K. Does Mr. Drake stay with her and watch over her some? Maybe over the 34 days she will allow you to make a few "security" measures. Last year one of my Scovy hens started a nest up against the back wall of our carport.

There was plenty of "stuff" all around it but it was still open so I carefully took the top off of our dog house and placed it over the nest while Beth was on a break. I also placed various boards and planter pots around so that it hid her nest sight but allowed her access to it. It worked out though I wouldn't recommend it if you have a better situation.

No, VD chose to set up housekeeping under my big potting bench beside the garage, off our walkway to back door. I'm thinking that tomorrow I will visit Lowe's and buy 4' wire and enclose the whole potting shed, abt 6' long. Then I can come out around some posts that are there and just plain lock her in. Better safe then sorry. That will give her plenty of room and also for big water pan and food dish. I feel like I'm hijacking a duck. LOL But her owners don't seem to care. Last fall there were about 25 of them, now I 've counted 9. Spent winter wondering streets and woods...and feeding wildlife. Not even sure if they feed them or let them free range. I keep looking for the owners so I can go over and ask if they'd like to sell either her or both.
NO, DH duck was in driveway early in AM but not near her and nest. .
Thanks for your suggestions
