choking duckling?!

my duckling was by the food dish and it seems like hes choking hes sitting there with his head up looking like he's trying to swallow...some foam is coming from the corners of his mouth WHAT SHOULD I DO???

Try getting him to drink or you can try getting some water in his mouth...

well he got the food down i guess...his water is right by it, does somone have a good idea for a waterer? he hasnt figured out the hole in the milk jug theory, i dip his beak in it several times a day but ive yet to see him use it himself

I could never get mine to do the milk jug...Tryed and tryed...I just have the waterers from TSC...Red plastic bottom they make a mess but I havent another idea!!!

thanks, i wont be able to get one until tommorrow...i put a shallow dish with water in it for now (about 1/2 in full), will that be ok?

Shallow dishes are great...Just enough water for them to get the nose in....to clear the nose holes!

if he's a week or less old, you can try moistening his food. Sometimes the dry food gets stuck in their throats... If you wet it just enough to get moist (not soaking) it should help.

Only one day old, how often should i change the moistened food?

i changed mine maybe 3 or 4 times a day... If you put a very small amount of food in there, they'll eat it up before it gets icky. Just keep checking on the food level... If it's been a couple hours and there's still food, change it out.... (by putting in small amunts, you'll also save on food)
