Hi,
Sorry in advance for long post, just hoping for some advice on whether one of my chooks is safe to be put back with flock.
A few days ago she was having runny yellow poo and quite lethargic so we isolated her. At firest she was drinking a lot of water then after a day or two eating and drinking fairly normal but still runny poo.
She is much more energetic wanting to get out of her cage and this morning her poos seemed a bit more firm but still green so I let her out this morning but within about 5 mins she did more green runny poo so i isolated her again as im not sure how to tell if she is ok and dont want to risk infecting the rest of the flock.
We have wormed the whole flock just in case but have not seen any blood or worms in her poo it was just yellow and now green. And I can’t think of any food she has had that may have caused the different colour. Or anything that may have made her sick thats the others would also have been exposed to. None of other chooks have had any symptoms and seem fine, they all eat, drink and roam in same environment they roam our quarter acre backyard during the day so have lots of exercise and always quite happy and healthy so think its nothing contagious as she would have infected them before we noticed her symptoms i would think.
We have had egg bound chooks before but she is not acting the same as those and has mostly bounced back whereas the others continued to deteriorated and passed away quite quickly. I have looked into all the possible diseases and issues and checked for things mentioned on chook forums but like i said its just the pooing issue i would think if something more serious there would be continued lethargy and other symptoms so she has me a bit stumped.
Only other thing is she is an older chook (about 3years i think) if that makes a difference.
Any ideas / advice would be appreciated.
