I was given some bantam Araucana's. I have 2 nice little pullets that I'll keep and I'm trying to decide which rooster to keep. The little pullets are nice, have a nice conformation and smooth rump. None of them have the tufts but I will address that later and buy a nice hen with tuft(s).
They are all young and still maturing but here is how I see them now.
My choices are
A) Dark Blue (?) with a tail and excellent comb. Not as attractive as the other 2
B) Black, smooth rump, with some red/gold on the chest and a pretty good comb
C) A better black color, nice smooth rump, pretty to look at but the comb is not very good and may even be a single straight type comb.
I did read on the Araucana Club website that they can carry the gene for tufts and not show any sign of tufts so if I can get the other stuff right, and a couple also have tufts, I'd be thrilled.
