I got three eggs today.... From two hens!!! One of them being the darkest she's ever laid! What a wonderful Christmas gift from the ladies
I wouldn't have believed it but these are my only two Marans AND they are currently in their own pen, just the two of them. I checked this morning when I fed the horses and no eggs, checked again mid-morning when I let the mini-horse out and found the super dark one... Checked one last time as I was feeding and tucking everyone in and whadya know, two more!
Here are the three:
And the super dark one. The picture doesn't do it justice at all. I have it sitting on the counter near some chocolate covered salted caramels that I made today (BTW... YUM!
) and the egg is nearly as dark as they are! This one will definitely be on display for awhile before we eat it!
I'm not sure who laid which egg but both get extra treats tomorrow!
