Hi!
I've had chickens since I was 6yrs old. Some years without, but since 1995, there have been chickens here with me continuously.
Today, Christmas Day, I headed out to the barn and coop per usual. My girls and boys are inside up here in CT this time of year, due to the cold weather
redator ratio.
Anyways, I fed my horses, dewormed them, goats, Flemish Giant bunnies, and proceeded to the coops, inside my barn. (3 horse stalls, divided into 2 coops)
1 for my hens and select roosters & the other for some Turkeys and Roosters to be processed.
I went to the nesting boxes, of which I normally get ~36 eggs in the am, and some more throughout the day....
Today, there was only 1, ONE, egg. I asked the girls what was going on, then I looked at the egg.
*********It was a Lilacy-Pink egg!!!!!!!!!
************
I don't have any hens that lay pink eggs, so this was a real surprise!
I decided that this egg was going to be placed in my incubator! So, I carefully placed the egg in (after it warmed up a bit)
I had just placed eggs, from an EBay listing, into the incubator late ladies night, and I had exactly 1 open spot on my self turner racks; another coincidence?!
My Uncle has just passed last August. He bred Racing Pigeons ever since I can remember. He had many successful winners, and was a very well-known and respected Pigeon Breeder
