I have 5 chuckars that were hatched last spring. I have no idea of the sexes. Or if they can be sexed? I saw a pair mating the other day. When/where do chuckars lay? How can you sex them? Are they broody?

The males will have kind of a spur on there legs.They will not brood but you can incubate the eggs.

with experience you can tell a cock by its more bloc key head, both the hens and cocks have spurs but the male s legs are heavier. the easiest way is to measure the leg from the bottom of the foot to the knee, I'm trying to remember the Lent 21/4 inch and below is female longer is male, you may have to try on a few to get the exact number but this is 90% accurate once you get it down. another and the most accurate way is to look. hold the bird on its back spread the feather from around the vent pull the vent open and you will see the penis of the male very easy to do after you do a few you will be able to see the difference's easily.
