Hi, so for the past 3 days one of my chucker hens has been acting very strange, she stays all day long in the nest box. She has some sand and cotton in there. She seemed to have aranged it as in, dug a crater and now she stays in the box all day long. She either stands or sits down. Depends on the tie of the day. She also tends to get puffed up and moody when I get close to her. In fact, the Male she has living in her enclosure stays away from her and i sometimes find him arranging the nest box with her. I never experienced this behaviour from a chucker partridge. What do you guys think is going on please?? Tks

Sounds just like a Broody Chicken, @007Sean ?

Wow that would be awesome if she went broody! Is it normal in the end of July?? Tks :)
That would depend on your location. Different areas of the U.S. have different weather and the breeding seasons follow along with the weather, usually! I have had some of my pheasant hens go broody in July, and I'm in South Texas.

Thanks so much! I live in Malta in Europe and it's usually around 97 during the day and 82 at night in July. It's also very humid. It was around 89% humidity today. Tks :)
