I just started getting my first Chukar eggs today and am getting excited for the first chicks to hatch. I've read in a few places that when using artificial light, it takes the males about 2 more weeks to be in breeding mode than it does the female. Is this the same way when the birds are outside in natural light? Or will they be ready about the same time? Just wondering whether I should expect my first 2 weeks or so of the hen laying eggs that the eggs would not be fertilized by the male.
