Chukar...PICS

it truely is in the eye of the beholder cause I think they are the cutest things.. I love my chukar teens they look so neat.

I keep hearing people make comments about the chukars being vicious, and tearing each other apart....eating each other alive.... I dont have any issues with my chukars... they are not the nicest birds to try to catch but thats what ya want when your trying to sell to gun dog trainers. as of this moment I have not had any killing and maiming but I dont keep very many right now and when I do I wasnt planning on keeping to many in 1 cage...anyway could some one please explain this train of thinking to me?

Are you raising them for meat??, I have had wild Chukar and they were fantastic birds for the table and also a great bird to hunt. They don't seem ugly heck have you ever seen a Turken or a Showgirl now that's ugly LOL.

Thanks guys! And I think they are awesome! I love the colorations in them now and as adults. Love the sounds they make and looking forward to flushing some up this fall. I'm also trying to get some Albino birds as well.

Folks that have chukars that eat each other alive didn't have there birds penned correctly and didn't do there homework, this goes for any bird species..

Could you explain to me how to properly pen chukars to prevent this from happening. I am hoping to raise a few in the spring for dog training.

Thanks

I am with you, I have raised these never had trouble with them killing each other.

Caged raised, nothing like the killer ringneck pheasants, Which I use bits on, not so with Chukars.....
