City coops

Instead of taking advice from people not in wisconsin on insulation of a chicken coop, I would go to the Wisconsin Thread and ask the folks there. Wisconsin cold and the cold other northern states are about 20 degrees apart. I doubt many people realize how much colder things can get once you get west of Lake Michigan. Wisconsin has temps that could freeze some of my southern birds solid.
Yeah just checked temps. Average 5 degrees colder in central wi than wny. Doesn’t matter to me what you do with your coop. Just trying to save you some money and space for your birds.

I would not have let anyone know about my plans to keep chickens! And if the neighbors get nasty, I would tell them to mind dey own bitnit!

Central Wisconsin is USDA Hardiness zone as low as 4a, That means in winter Temps can go as low as -25 degrees.

Ontario NY (grew up near there in Monroe and Orleans Counties) is in Zone 6a which means temps can go below -5.
That is a 20 degree temperature swing. I do not know if it justifies insulation in a coop but it does justify checking locally on how to deal with those cold January nights in Wisconsin. Its a totally different world there with cold.
