If chicks become hens and lay eggs to eat. Do you have to get a rooster in order to have new baby chicks? Fifty and getting ready to start this. Explain please.

Hens do not need roosters to lay eggs or even to go broody (when they want to set and incubate eggs.) They must be bred by a rooster in order to produce fertile eggs which will develop into chicks once incubated. Good luck venturing into the world of poultry keeping/raising.
